The NASCAR Truck Series heads to Richmond this week for some racing under the lights tonight. This is the last race before the playoffs start for the Truck Series so the drivers that need a win to get in the playoffs will be doing everything they can to get it done. Dominator points are going to be important this week so we will see if anyone can compete with Corey Heim who has been dominant at the majority of tracks this season.
Potential Dominators
Corey Heim
Christian Eckes
Layne Riggs
No surprise but Corey Heim is going to be the favorite once again coming into the race this weekend in the Truck Series. He had top 5 speed in practice and should be hard to beat once again especially from the pole. Eckes in back in the truck series for this race and he looked really good in practice. He was fastest in 10 and 15 lap averages and I would expect that to translate to the race. He should be a great option to contend up front at Richmond. Riggs didn’t show much in practice but this seems to be a track he would be great at so I am not counting him out tonight, but I do prefer the other two.
Place Differential Plays
Corey Lajoie
Gio Ruggerio
Rajah Caruth
Lajoie had good speed in practice but did not get a great qualifying lap and starts in the back half of the field. He should move forward and be a great place differential play for tonight. Ruggerio had an issue in practice that they had to fix so he did not get to qualify. He has had top 10 speed this season and should be a top place differential option starting in the back. Caruth had really good speed in practice and looks like he could run in the top 10 and starts in the low 20s.
Cheap Options
Tanner Gray
Andres Perez
Luke Fenhaus
Dawson Sutton
Matthew Gould
It is going to be important for the cheap drivers starting towards the back to stay on the lead lap early, so using some drivers that start a little closer to the front and can still move forward a few spots could be a better strategy. Grey starts 18th and I would not be surprised to see him move forward and be a good value play tonight. Perez had speed with his new team today and could be a good play from 22nd. Fenhaus could be a good cheap option starting 15th as he should avoid getting lapped early if he can just finish the day off in the top 15. Sutton also showed good speed in the practice session and starts in 12th so he a little bit of a riskier option. Gould is the one flier I like today as he is in good equipment. I do worry about him getting lapped early but if we get some wrecks he could be a good option.
