The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to Charlotte this week after a few weeks off from racing compared to the other NASCAR Series. The 1.5 mile track should produce some good racing and we have a handful of Cup drivers coming down to race the Xfinity Race this week. We should expect 1-2 dominators this week that will lead the majority of the laps out front in the race. Tire wear will be important but 4 tires won't be a necessity at times, so we could see some pit strategy play into the race throughout the event.
Potential Dominators
Justin Allgaier
William Byron
Connor Zilisch
Allgaier has been one of the best cars at most of the tracks the Xfinity Series has visited this season and the race at Charlotte should not be any different. He was fastest in lap averages and is likely to be the driver to beat today in the race. Byron is the Cup driver in the 17 car this week and he had speed in practice being one of the best on lap averages as well. He should be a top contender to lead laps and be one of the main threats to win the race. Another JR Motorsports car that had speed in practice was Connor Zilisch and he starts on the front row giving him a chance to get the lead early. He should be a solid play and could pay off big if he can lead some laps at his lower price tag than some of the other top drivers.
Place Differential Plays
Jesse Love
Harrison Burton
Love was not really happy with his car in practice but he showed some speed on the lap averages as he was in the top 10 on 10 lap averages. He starts in 19th so if they can get his car where he wants it, he should be able to move forward and be a solid option. My main concern is he is too overpriced and may not pay off his salary if he doesn't run towards the front. Burton did not get a good qualifying lap as he starts back in 25th but he has raced well this season. I would expect top 15 upside from him making him a good place differential play.
There are limited place differential plays today so I don't mind using some drivers that could be good value plays that start closer to the front like Carson Kvapil and Ryan Sieg.
Cheap Options
Parker Retzlaff
Josh Williams
Brennan Poole
Brad Perez
Retzlaff has been hot and cold this season and did not show great speed in practice. But he starts way back in 34th and I would expect him to move forward like he did in their last race in Texas where he finished 14th after starting in 34th. Josh Williams has had some solid runs on 1.5 mile tracks and starts back in 27th. He should have place differential potential and have upside for a top 15 finish if all goes well for his race. Poole has been a really solid option this season and I think today could be another good run for him. He was solid in practice and starts in 26th so he has some room to move forward. Perez is a good flier option as he had solid speed for him in practice and starts way in the back at a really low salary.
