NASCAR Xfinity Series WWTR Gateway DFS Picks

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway) this week for their final race before the playoffs begin. Drivers that have been good on the flatter ovals this season should translate well to the 1.25 mile flat oval track. Connor Zilisch and JR Motorsports have been dominant as of late so we will see who can contend with them this week. We are likely to see 1-2 main dominators at Gateway as we will see 160 laps on track for the race this weekend on Saturday night under the lights.

Potential Dominators

Sam Mayer

Connor Zilisch

Aric Almirola

These three drivers were the clear fastest throughout the runs in practice this week and I think they all have an argument for best car coming into the race this week. Mayer was at the top of the speed chart and had the best 5 and 10 lap average in practice. He is generally good on flat oval tracks and I expect him to be a top contender this weekend. Next we have Conor Zilisch who was the best on the 15 lap average in practice. Zilisch has been dominate in the middle part of the season and is on a hot streak coming in. The only concern this week is he has never raced here at Gateway but that has not seemed to slow him down much this season. The other option to be a potential dominator this week is Aric Almirola as he was the best on the 20 lap average in practice and he looked really good in the session. The flat style tracks are the best track type for Almirola and he won at the similar Phoenix earlier this season. He is a great option to lead laps this week and contend for the win with the other two drivers.

Place Differential Plays

Jesse Love

Sammy Smith

Ryan Sieg

Christian Eckes

Love and Smith are two of the higher end options that start farther back outside the top 15. They both had solid lap times in practice and should be drivers that will run in the top 10 this week. Sieg is one of my favorite value plays this week as he was really good in practice with top 5 speed. He starts back in 13th so he has room to move forward and should have top 5 upside this week. Eckes was fine in practice but didn’t stand out but he was really happy with his car. He starts in 10th but I think he could be a good low owned option that will do well this week.

Cheap Options

Parker Retzlaff

Brennan Poole

Jeremy Clements

Kyle Sieg

LaVar Scott

Retzlaff had really good speed in practice and is a driver who has been good on the flat style tracks in his career. This could be a good week for him and I would not be shocked to see a top 15 come from him making him a solid option this week starting 26th. Poole didn’t show anything great in practice but he is usually a solid play most weeks and starts in 27th so he has some room to move forward making him a solid play this week. Clements is in the same boat but with where he starts and the limited cheap options this week he is a good option. Sieg is a risky play starting 20th but he was good in practice and is solid at these type of tracks. Scott is a solid cheap flier play.
