NASCAR heads back to a road course this week as all 3 series is in upstate New York at Watkins Glen. Watkins Glen produces some of the best racing on the road courses as the high speeds promote good racing throughout the field. We have the big guns in the field for the Xfinity Series this week as both SVG and Connor Zilisch will be the heavy favorites to dominate and win the race.
Potential Dominators
Shane Van Gisbergen
Connor Zilisch
SVG and Zilisch have been the dominate drivers on road courses this season and are the top road racers in all of NASCAR. Draftkings has taken note and priced them up this week, both over $2400 salary more than the next driver. It will be difficult to fit both so you may have to choose one if you want to use some of the mid to higher range drivers that have some place differential potential. I would probably lean Zilisch over SVG just because he has been on fire recently and looked faster than anyone in practice so I would not be surprised to see him run away with things even with SVG in the field.
Place Differential Plays
Christian Eckes
Sheldon Creed
Austin Hill
Carson Kvapil
Riley Herbst
Eckes got some damage in practice and did not qualify so he starts in the back and has huge place differential this week. He will be a popular play and is an obvious choice to pair with the top drivers this week. Watkins Glen is one of Creed's best tracks and he had speed in practice. He starts in 11th so a top 5 would be a good run to pair with one of Zilisch or SVG. Austin Hill is in the same boat starting 11th. If you are picking one of the top guys and need someone that can finish at the front both Creed and Hill are solid options. Herbst has improved a lot as a road racer in recent years and starting 16th I think he is a good option in top equipment this week. Kvapil is another that is solid at road courses and should be a good value starting back in 14th.
Cheap Options
Brennan Poole
Blaine Perkins
Preston Pardus
Jeremy Clements
Poole doesn't stand out as a road racer but he has some solid finishes and starts way back in 31st this week. He should move forward and have top 25 potential with upside for more if he stays out of trouble. Perkins surprisingly has had some solid results this season on road courses with some top 20 runs. If you are going to fit both of the top drivers in your lineups this week you will need some major salary relief so with Perkins starting 32nd he could be a solid play at his salary. Pardus is a road course specialist and has some solid runs in the past when his car is able to make it to the end of these races. He is not in great equipment so I don't have high expectations but he starts in 34th and if he doesn't have any issues he should be a top 20-25 driver this weekend. Clements is another driver that is good on road courses and Draftkings really priced him low this week. He had solid speed in practice and he starts back in 30th so he should have good place differential potential to move forward and have top 20 potential.
