The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to Martinsville this weekend for a high-stakes cutoff race to decide the Championship 4. There’s sure to be fireworks, both on and off the track, as drivers fight for every inch on the tight half-mile oval. This race will have 250 laps, which means a ton of dominator points are available, making lap leaders and drivers with track position extremely important in DFS builds. Martinsville is known for its bump-and-run style racing, so track position and restarts will be huge, especially late in the race. Expect chaos, late-race drama, and a DFS slate that rewards the right dominators and finishers who can avoid trouble.
Potential Dominators
Justin Allgaier
Aric Almirola
Allgaier was one of the best cars in practice and has a great track history at Martinsville. He starts fourth and should be one of the top contenders for the race today. Almirola has always ran well at Martinsville in his career and he should be good again today. He had speed and practice and starts in the top five so he should contend for laps led. Both of these guys would be my favorites to lead laps but we could see some tricky strategies for track position and could get another leader for a good chunk of the race making it harder to predict.
Place Differential Plays
Connor Zilisch
Sam Mayer
Corey Day
Taylor Gray
Jesse Love
Zilisch has been one of the top drivers all season and he should be good once again today. He starts last as he wrecked in practice, but they should get his car fixed and he is a huge place differential option today. Mayor starts outside the top 20 but has run well and Martinsville in the past contending for wins. He should be able to move through the field and run in the top 10 with upside for more. Day had really good speed and practice and starts back in 18th. He should be able to move forward and have top 10 upside in the race. Gray had top 5 speed in practice but starts just outside the top 10 so he could be a good mid range option for the race today.
Cheap Options
Dean Thompson
Connor Mosack
Brennan Poole
Patrick Staropoli
Ryan Ellis
Thompson was really good in practice and starts way back in 30th so he has a lot of room to move forward. He should be a great option under 7K salary. Mosack was solid in practice and is in decent equipment so as long as he can stay out of trouble and on the lead lab, he should have potential for a top 20. Poole is a riskier play starting 16th but he should be low owned because of it and was top 15 fast in practice. If he can stay around where he starts for most of the race, he may be able to take advantage of some others towards the end and finish around the top 10. Staropoli was another that had good speed and practice and starts way back in 33rd. If he can avoid getting lapped early he should be a great option for DFS. Ellis could go overlooked starting 25th but I think he could have a good run today and have top 20 upside.
