NASCAR is in the Midwest this week as they are racing in Iowa at the .88 mile short track. There are a handful of Cup drivers in the Xfinity race this week and Connor Zilisch goes for 4 wins in a row. I will try to repeat my performance from last week after my 13k win on Draftkings from the Xfinity race at Indy.
Connor Zilisch
Sam Mayer
Jesse Love
Zilisch is starting to get the experience in the Xfinity Series where he is a threat to win every week. He was once again one of the fastest cars in practice and was so happy with it that they ended their session early. I would expect him to be one of the top options once again and should be a threat to lead laps and win the race. Mayer won this race last season and he is on a different team this year but showed up with speed again in practice. He was top 5 in lap averages and should be one of the top contenders this weekend at Iowa. Love ended the practice session really happy with his car and seemed like he could contend this week. He starts on pole and should have a chance to lead laps early and be a threat all day in Iowa
Ryan Sieg I think is a good value play this week and it would not surprise me to see him run top 5 all day.
Place Differential Plays
Taylor Gray
Nick Sanchez
Christian Eckes
Justin Allgaier
Gray had some really good speed in practice but had some brake issues that prevented him from qualifying. Hopefully they get his brake issues solved and if they do he will be a top option for place differential as he is starting in the back and will have at least top 10 potential for the race. Sanchez wasn't the best in practice but he was solid and starts way back in 26th for the race. He should be able to move forward and be a solid place differential play with top 15 potential for the race. Eckes is in the same boat as Sanchez where he didn't stand out in practice but he starts back in 25th so he has some room to move forward and could be a solid option this week. I don't love the speed that Allgaier had in practice as Mayer and Zilisch seemed a lot better in practice but Iowa is a great track for Allgaier. He starts in 15th so he has some place differential points to gain but fitting him in your lineups could be a struggle unless we only get 1 main dominator to lead a lot of the laps.
Cheap Options
Corey Day
Harrison Burton
Dean Thompson
Parker Retzlaff
Jeremy Clements
I do think this may be a week where picking drivers that start higher up and can stay up there will be more important as staying on the lead lap will be key. Day starts 18th and should run around there to start but has upside to get around the top 10 by the end of the race making him a good play at $7200. Burton is in the same boat starting 17th and priced just below Day. Both should be good options for top 15s. Thompson has been running better recently with a lot of top 20s in recent weeks. He starts 20th so he could be a good cheap play if he can end up around the top 15. Retzlaff had solid speed in practice and I would expect him to move forward from his 28th starting spot. The cheap drivers will be key this week as cars will be getting laps fast this week on the shorter track but I think Retzlaff is a solid option this week at his price. Clements starts a little farther back in 27th this week as well and should be a threat to run around the top 20 this week as well.
