NASCAR Xfinity Series Dover DFS Picks

NASCAR heads to the northeast this weekend for some racing on the 1 mile concrete oval in Dover. We get a break from the road courses and some of the unpredictability that comes with those and we should get a good race this weekend. I would expect the best drivers to rise to the top and we should see practice be a good indicator of who will be good this week for the Xfinity Series.

Potential Dominators

Justin Allgaier

Ross Chastain

Aric Almirola

Nick Sanchez

Connor Zilisch

Allgaier is one of the best drivers in the series in concrete tracks and has a great track record at Dover. He was happy with his car in practice but he hit the wall in qualifying so I am expecting him to have to come from the back after repairs. I would still expect him to get through the field in the first stage and be one of the top contenders to lead laps and race for the win this weekend once he gets to the front. Chastain is in the 9 car this weekend that has been winning a lot of the recent races with Cup driver in it and I would expect him to be a contender this week as well. He had some of the best lap averages in practice and should be around the front all race. Almirola was another that had some of the best lap averages in practice and is on the team that was won the recent races here at Dover. Sanchez has been running really good lately and he had speed in practice this weekend. He starts on the front row so he will have a chance to lead laps early in the race and is a solid choice at his cheaper price than some of these other options. Zilisch was good on the long run and should be another one of the contenders in this race.

Place Differential Plays

Sheldon Creed

Christian Eckes

Ryan Truex

Creed doesn't have huge place differential but I like him to contend in the top 5 this race as this is one of his best tracks and he is on the team that had the best car here last season. He should get to the front and be a top 5 contender and have a chance at his first win this weekend. Eckes struggled in qualifying but he went out early so he should be able to move forward and be much better in the race. Starting 31st gives him a lot of place differential potential this week. Truex has won this race the last two season but driving for Joe Gibbs so he has a much taller task driving for Sam Hunt Racing this week. He was not great in practice but starting 32nd I would expect him to move forward and run in the top 20 even if his car isn't great.

Cheap Options

Daniel Dye

Parker Retzlaff

Anthony Alfredo

Josh Williams

Kyle Sieg

Ryan Ellis

Dye and Retzlaff had some good lap times in practice but they looked better cause they were in the faster first session this weekend. But I still think they are solid and they start in 30th and 27th giving them a good amount of room to move forward. Both are solid options that should have top 20 potential in the race. Alfredo is in the same boat as he had good lap times in practice as well and starts back in 26th. If he can stay out of trouble he can easily have top 20 potential with upside for more. Kyle Sieg and Ryan Ellis are solid flier plays this weekend starting way in the back but they will likely need some wrecks to get track position and a good finish at the end of the day.
