NASCAR Xfinity Series Chicago Street DFS Picks

NASCAR heads to the streets of Chicago this weekend for racing in the Xfinity Series to kick off action on the track for the weekend. The tight quarters through the streets will likely make passing difficult so track position is going to be important along with not getting caught up in someone else's mistake. I would expect the top road racers to rise to the occasion this weekend and we will see if we get rain that drivers will have to navigate during the race.

Potential Dominators

Shane Van Gisbergen

When SVG is in the field on a road course he is going to have to have a problem to not be battling for the win. He is likely going to dominate the race and lead the majority of the laps. With Connor Zilisch starting in the back I don't see any other driver that will contend with SVG early. If you are going with a lineup to include a dominator and not just straight place differential plays, you have to use SVG.

Place Differential Plays

Connor Zilisch

Christian Eckes

Taylor Gray

Kaz Grala

Zilisch is the top full time Xfinity driver on road courses and he should be right on pace with SVG in the race. But he wrecked in practice so he is starting in the back and will have a lot of cars to pass which will make him a top place differential play. Fitting SVG and Zilisch in your lineups will be difficult so you may have to pick which direction you want to go if you are going to use other mid range plays in your lineups. Eckes and Gray are two others that wrecked in practice and will be starting at the rear of the field. They have huge place differential potential doing so and should be popular plays as long as they stay out of trouble making their way towards the front. They should have top 10 upside if they can get track position as the race progresses. Grala is a great road racer but this is his first Xfinity start in more than a year so he has some rust to knock off. He is in a solid car with Sam Hunt Racing and starts back in 30th so he has a lot of place differential potential as he should have top 15 potential.

Cheap Options

Austin Green

Jeb Burton

Ryan Sieg

Dean Thompson

Anthony Alfredo

Josh Bilicki

Austin Green has some great finishes on road courses in the Xfinity series and I would expect him to have a chance to do that again. He should be lower owned starting 18th with so many big place differential plays, but I would not be surprised to see him battle for a top 10 if all goes well for him today. Jeb Burton starts back in 31st so he has a lot of room to move forward. He is not the best on road courses but if he can gain some track position throughout the race and stay out of trouble he should be a good place differential play. Sieg didn't get a lap in all day in practice or qualifying with some power issues so he is a bit of a risk but I would expect them to get it figured out by race time. He starts in the back because of this so he has big upside at his salary if he can end up in the top 25 at a minimum. Thompson had a really good run in Mexico a few weeks ago and starts in the back this weekend. If he can repeat that type of performance he would be a great place differential play this weekend. Alfredo and Bilicki are solid flier plays today as they are both solid road racers and have room to move forward starting in the mid to high 20s.
