NASCAR Truck Series Michigan DFS Picks

The NASCAR Truck Series is in Michigan this week for racing on the high speed 2 mile oval. With the bigger track there are only 125 laps in the race so we could only get 1-2 dominators in the race so getting the correct dominator is going to be even more important this week. Trucks with speed in practice and that have had some of the top speeds this season should translate well to the race this weekend.
Potential Dominators
Corey Heim
Layne Riggs
Carson Hocevar
Rajah Caruth
Like a broken record, once again it is hard to go against Corey Heim in any truck race this season. He was one of the fastest trucks in practice as he has been all year long. He will be the one to beat and the top option for DFS at Michigan. Just like I have said a lot recently, Layne Riggs has been Heim’s biggest threat week in and week out this season and Riggs showed speed again in practice. He was right behind Heim on lap times and will be a top contender for the race win and laps led again even though he starts back in 18th. Hocevar is in the truck race this week and starts up on the front row. I would expect him to get the lead early and potentially be the early dominator with Heim and others starting a little farther back. Hocevar should be a good option this week and a contender throughout the race. Caruth is a bit of a sleeper play today as he is not one of the usual top names even though he won last week. He had good speed in practice and starts in 13th giving him some place differential potential. I could see him moving forward and running in the top 5 at Michigan and maybe even having a chance to contend by the end of the day. He should be a lower owned option than some of these other guys.
Place Differential Plays
Chandler Smith
Ross Chastain
Gio Ruggerio
Chandler Smith starts way in the back after aborting his qualifying lap making him an obvious choice for place differential. He had good speed in practice and should make his way to the front and run in the top 10. Another popular play will be Chastain starting back in 26th. He should easily move forward and like Smith should run in the top 10 with potential to be a race winning contender by the end of the day. Both will be top options for place differential today. Ruggerio has had good speed this season and starts back in 20th today. With how he has been running and the equipment he is in, I would expect him to run around the top 10 most weeks making him a good place differential play today.
Cheap Options
Tanner Gray
Dawson Sutton
Matt Mills
Morgen Baird
Gray was one of the best on lap averages in practice and I expect all the Tricon Trucks to have the power to be really good this week. He starts in 23rd but I think he will have the opportunity to run top 10 and maybe even around the top 5 making him a great value and place differential play this week. There are really limited options for cheap drivers today after Gray as many start higher up than they will likely run. Sutton I think is a solid option as he had a good run last week and had good speed in practice this weekend. He starts 15th so he will likely run around there but he should have the opportunity to gain a few spots and be a decent play at his salary. Mills is a bit of a flier play but he starts back in 22nd which is more place differential potential than a lot of the drivers priced around him have. He should run top 20 with upside for more and be a good value play at his salary. If you need a real low priced play Baird is a good punt option starting dead last. Any wrecks that happen he will gain those spots and he may be able to pass a few drivers on track. He could help you fit some of the top drivers in your lineups.
