The NASCAR Truck Series is in Darlington this week for their first race of the playoffs for the Series. Corey Heim has a commanding lead with all his wins this season and is likely going to be the favorite every week going into each race. Darlington should be a good race as it is a unique egg shaped oval track that has high tire wear so taking care of your tires and being good on the long run is going to be important. We should see the usual top drivers up front this week and getting the main lap leader will be important for your DFS lineups.
Potential Dominators
Corey Heim
Layne Riggs
Ty Majeski
Like every week, Corey Heim is going to be tough to beat. But we did see him not have the best truck last week and it wouldn’t be a shock if Riggs or Majeski had the truck to beat this week. Heim was the fastest in lap averages by a good amount so I still think he is likely to lead the most laps and win the race. But we did see Riggs get the pole and should have a good truck this week as he was top 5 in lap averages. He should lead at the start and we will see how long he can hold off these others. Majeski was probably the second fastest truck in practice behind Heim. He seems to have turned things around as he was the best truck last week. He starts 8th so he has a little place differential and should be a good option this week.
Place Differential Plays
Ben Rhodes
Jake Garcia
Corey Day
Matt Crafton
There are limited options for place differential plays this week which may not be a bad thing. Drivers starting in the back could get down a lap early so having the buffer if starting higher up may be better at Darlington. Rhodes wasn’t great in practice but they usually race a lot better so I would expect him to run in the top 15 with upside for more. Same goes for his teammate Matt Crafton who has been in this spot a lot this season but if either of them get a top 15 that would be a solid payoff starting outside the top 20. Jake Garcia is in the playoffs and has ran well this season in the top 10 a lot. He starts 13th and I would expect him to run in the 5-10 range this week. I have similar expectations for Corey Day who starts 15th and has had good runs in the few starts he has had in the truck series.
Cheap Options
Gio Ruggerio
Dawson Sutton
Jack Wood
Stefan Parsons
Ruggerio has been close to breaking through with a win iver the summer this season and he had speed in practice again this week. He starts 6th but he is such a good value with week he likely just needs to run in the top 10 to be a solid option this week and I think he is a great tournament play at Darlington. Sutton and Wood both had good lap time in practice and should be good options for DFS. Wood has shown speed at times in practice but has struggled in races so I have a little bit of a concern with him. Sutton starts a little higher up and has some better results this year than Wood. Parsons is a driver that usually gets the most out of his equipment and he had solid speed this week in practice. I think he is a solid option at his cheap price. A lot of the cheap drivers can be used this week as none of them really stood out in practice and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of them like Mills, Perez, Currey, or Boyd be solid options.
