The NASCAR Truck Series is at Bristol on Thursday night for some mid week short track night racing. This is the second race of the first round of the playoffs for the Truck series as Corey Heim will be the one to beat as he has been the dominant truck all season. Track position will be very important since it is easy to get lapped quickly at Bristol, especially if you start in the back and get some long green flag runs since the track is only a half mile oval. The Trucks will have 200 laps so there are a lot of dominator points to gain so getting the drivers that lead the majority of the lap will be important.Â
Potential Dominators
Corey Heim
Layne Riggs
Chandler Smith
Bristol fits right into Corey Heim’s wheelhouse and he is going to be the favorite coming into the race this week. Heim is great at short tracks and should be up front a lot this week but he is at a high salary on Draftkings. I think he is going to be good tonight but will he do enough to pay off his salary when there are several drivers that looked good in practice? Riggs is another that is great at short tracks and should be one of the guys that can run at the front and contend this week. Riggs has been one of the better drivers this season and had speed in practice with some of the best lap averages making him a solid option to be a top contender. Riggs’ teammate Chandler Smith also had really good speed in practice and is another good short track driver who won here earlier this season. He is the cheapest of the 3 and could be a good play at the end of the night with his point potential at his salary.
Jake Garcia and Kaden Honeycutt are solid value plays that start at the front and could end up top 5 and in the optimal lineup if they can lead some laps or get some fast laps
Place Differential Plays
Ben Rhodes
Matt Crafton
Gio Ruggiero
Parker Kligerman
Ben Rhodes had really good speed in practice and starts back in 19th. He has room to move forward and is a good play with upside to finish in the top 10. Crafton had similar speed in practice and starts farther back as well so he is a solid place differential play at his salary. Kligerman wasn’t great in practice but he is good at Bristol and starts towards the back outside the top 25. He should have some room to move forward and be a decent place differential option this week. Ruggerio was solid in practice and has had a lot of speed this season running top 10 a lot. He starts just outside the top 10 and should be a solid option to move forward.
I also don’t mind Daniel Hemric or Grant Enfinger as options at the back of the top 10.
Cheap Options
Bayley Currey
Cole Butcher
Stefan Parsons
Jack Wood
Currey has some solid runs in his career at Bristol in different series and should have a chance to run well this week. He had solid speed in practice and starts in 13th which is higher than you want but it’s where he shouldn’t go a lap down early and still be a solid value play. Butcher is in a Halmar Friesen truck this week for his first career truck start so he is in good equipment. He will be a bit of a wildcard play but he had solid speed in practice and should get better as the race goes on. Stefan Parsons is a good flier play that usually runs better than the equipment he is in so he should be a solid play at his low salary. Wood had good lap times in practice as he had top 10 lap averages in the session. He starts in the low 20s so he has a little room to move forward with top 15 upside. Mosack could be another good flier option with where he starts he just didn’t show much in practice.
